
DataSense has provided qualitative data analysis software training, coding and analysis services, and project consultation to hundreds of clients in a variety of disciplines since 1996. Clients include students and working professionals obtaining their doctoral degrees; university and community college faculty; and professional researchers of universities, major and mid-sized corporations, and private organizations. Karen became one of the first independent research consultants for QSR software in 1996, upon completion of her doctoral studies in which she utilized QSR NUDIST 3. Kaarstin joined her in 1998 when they formed DataSense. They are specialists in QSR software and participate in beta-testing programs for new products from QSR.
Serving as faculty member and on dissertation committees at The Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership at Walden University in the Ph.D. in Education program, Karen is cognizant of research design and qualitative methodology. She is lead instructor for all DataSense training workshops and online training, and chief consultant for the company. Her educational background and teaching experience provides knowledge and respect for the rigor required in various doctoral programs, and she provides expert consultation for students, faculty, and professional researchers.
Previous teaching experience includes adjunct faculty at university level in mathematics and statistics, and a credentialed mathematics teacher at the secondary level. Other experience includes writing for the educational market and several years in financial brokerage and accounting. Grant writing experience includes technology grants funded by General Electric and the State of California.
Kaarstin assists with all facets of the business including assisting with group training workshops. She is a gifted classroom teacher with prior experience as a credentialed mathematics teacher at the secondary level. Other experience includes work as an environmental technician for a major corporation and writing for the educational market.
