NVivo 2020 Software

The latest version NVivo software was released March 18 2020. With the inclusion of even more features and functionality than ever before, autocoding and social network analysis are the new, standard offering for NVivo on Microsoft® Windows®. This means that there are no longer NVivo Pro and NVivo Plus editions.

NVivo 2020 System Requirements

Microsoft® Windows®: Windows® 8.1 and higher, 64-bit OS support only. There will be no 32-bit support.

Apple® Mac OS®: MacOS 10.13 and higher.

Internet Connection Requirements

NVivo is offered as a desktop product with a streamlined installation process to the user’s local machine. This will enable you to work on projects regardless of location and/or internet connection.
You will need an internet connection as part of the installation process and to access internet features stored in the cloud. Once a project is downloaded, it can be worked on offline.

Cloud-based Information

The NVivo-Office Integration is a cloud-based feature. You can also select from cloud-based modules to add to NVivo, including NVivo Transcription and Collaboration Cloud. An internet connection is required to utilize these services.

Individual customers - For individual NVivo customers, data will be stored in one of four regional data centres employed by QSR. These regions are America, Europe, Canada and Singapore. The data centre geographically closest to the customer will be chosen as the default location.

Data Security Regulation Compliance

Both GDPR and HIPAA have stringent requirements so the new NVivo is compliant with both of these data security requirements.

Americas
• California Consumer Privacy Act 2018 (CCPA) – With similar requirements to GDPR, this Act places regulations on the selling of consumer information including consumer financial information.
• FERPA – QSR International is compliant with The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) which applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education. This legislation primarily deals with the security of educational records/protection of student privacy and all schools that fall under this legislation must only deal with entities who adhere to the data security/privacy requirements of FERPA.
